FONTANINI

Fontanini was founded in 1960 by Oriano and Jennie Fontanini. Oriano was a young Italian immigrant who believed in the “American Dream”! Originally, it was a meat company selling primal meat cuts of beef, pork, veal, fresh cut chicken, and making fresh ground hamburger. Their children, Gene and Joanne Fontanini, worked in the family business starting at a young age.

Fontanini’s exceptional Italian meats, toppings and sausages were crafted over generations with the most premium ingredients. Our relationships are crafted with the same care, built to go the distance. So pull up a chair — you always have a seat at our table.

VIENNA BEEF

The “Chicago Style” got its start from street cart hot dog vendors during the hard times of the Great Depression. Money was scarce, but business was booming for these entrepreneurs who offered a delicious hot meal on a bun for only a nickel. Thus, the famous Chicago Style Hot Dog was born!

Our passion for baking stems from the pursuit of perfection, using recipes from three generations ago and our unique blending of modern techniques.

Mariano Turano came to the United States from Calabria, Italy, with one purpose in mind; to build a better life for his family. When he bought a small bake shop on the westside of Chicago, he saw his opportunity to do just that. There he focused on making the same old-fashioned Italian Round Bread he baked in Italy. Soon this little Italian bake shop was making a big impression in surrounding neighborhoods.

The popularity of Mariano’s old-world bread motivated his brothers, Carmen and Eugenio, to partner with him and form Campagna Turano Bakery in Berwyn IL. The family’s undeniable talent for bread baking would soon make them one of the most popular Italian bakeries in the Chicagoland area.
